dater  -  coin in a cave      /      concept and content I
..
...
on jan. 1st, 1999 the euro was established as unit of currency.

in march 1999 the project "coin in a cave" was started. in one take a c90 tape was
recorded by filtering and equalizing a short, looped soundfile with a monacor mixer.

in march 2000 the tape was structured in seven tracks representing the essence of
the session. no overdubs or other technological changeswere made to keep
the specific character of "coin in a cave":

the sound is not clear.        a cave is dark, rough and dumb.
the sound is not constructed.  a cave is a long grown thing.
the sound is not complex.      a coin as simplified opposite of lost chances.
the sound is not varied.       a coin's turning noise as running wheel of everday life.

in march 2001 the website was recreated and the dater cd-map was made.

in 2002, when the euro finally replaces the old currences, an installation is planned consisting
of a black room, which's floor is filled by old, then useless, coins. the repetitive sounds of the
cd invite the visitors to enter the cave. after a visitor is caught in, humid air is blown in.
after a while coins like drops of stone sweat fall down the top of the cave.
if sponsors can be found (banks will be preferred) more next year.
